Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) had two hits and three RBI in the nightcap as the Randolph-Macon softball team split an ODAC doubleheader with Randolph Sunday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets (10-6, 4-4) won the nightcap 12-3 in six innings after the Wildcats (11-11, 4-6) took Game 1 by the score of 4-3.
In Game 2, Woody had a two-run single in a five-run third that gave R-MC the lead for good. Woody also drove in a run in a two-run fifth. Freshman Harley Jones (Broadnax, Va./Brunswick) had a three-run homer to cap a five-run sixth to end the contest.
Woody went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI, while senior Amanda Sopko (Skippers, Va./Greensville) and junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) both had two hits and two runs. Senior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) went 1 for 2 with two walks and three runs for R-MC.
Sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) earned the win to improve her record to 3-4. She scattered seven hits in five innings with four walks and three runs.
In the opener, junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) went 2 for 3 with one run and two RBI. She had a two-run double in the fifth for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, April 1, with a 3 p.m. ODAC doubleheader at Bridgewater.
