Box Score 2 SWEET BRIAR, Va. - Junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) had three doubles, a homer and four RBI in the doubleheader and freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) tossed a one-hit shutout in the opener as the Randolph-Macon softball team took two from Sweet Briar in ODAC action Wednesday afternoon.
Bagley (4-0) gave up a leadoff single, the only base-runner she allowed. Bagley struck out eight in five innings for the Yellow Jackets (6-2, 2-0 ODAC).
Gilman went 2 for 2 with a double, two runs and three RBI, including a two-run homer in a three-run fourth. Junior Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) (2 for 3, 2B) had a three-run homer to cap a four-run first.
In the nightcap, Gilman had two doubles, two runs and one RBI. Senior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) went 2 for 4 with a triple, a homer, two runs and four RBI, while senior Amanda Sopko (Skippers, Va./Greensville) went 2 for 3 with a dinger and three runs.
Sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) allowed three hits and two runs in five innings with three walks and two strikeouts to even her record at 2-2.
Randolph-Macon returns to action on Sunday, March 22 for a 1 pm home ODAC doubleheader against Shenandoah.
