Box Score 2 FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Senior Sharese Jarvis (Cobbs Creek, Va./Mathews) and freshman Skylar Toth (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) both homers as the Randolph-Macon softball team swept a doubleheader at Mary Washington on Thursday.
After three scoreless innings in Game 1, Toth had a three-run homer to cap a four-run fourth for the Yellow Jackets (3-1). After the Eagles (6-4) put up two in the bottom of the fourth, freshman Addi Johnson (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) delivered an RBI single in the sixth and junior Madison Gilman (Glen Allen, Va./Patrick Henry) knocked in the final run in the seventh.
Freshman Nelda Bagley (Kenbridge, Va./Central) recorded her second collegiate victory without a loss. The lefty allowed five hits and one unearned run with no walks and 11 strikeouts.
In the nightcap, Jarvis had a sacrifice fly in the top of the first and junior Katie Woody (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) added a two-run double later in the frame to give the Yellow Jackets a 3-0 advantage. Junior Sierra Ford (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) had a two-run triple in the fourth and came home on a dinger by Jarvis as R-MC built a 7-0 lead.
Sophomore Kelsey McLaughlin (Richmond, Va./Douglas Freeman) evened her record at 1-1, going six innings with four hits, one unearned run, two walks and one strikeout.
Randolph-Macon is scheduled to play at Christopher Newport on Friday, March 13.
