SWARTHMORE, Pa.— Senior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) recorded 27 points, three rebounds and three steals and became the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team defeated Neumann 83-71 Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Swarthmore Tip-Off Classic.

Livermon recorded her 1,000th career point in the fourth quarter with 6:20 to play to give the Yellow Jackets a 70-57 advantage.

Senior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, Va. / Cape Henry Collegiate) tallied 13 points and four assists for R-MC.

Senior Lauren Vugteveen (Midlothian, Va. / Amelia Academy) was one rebound away from a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.

Livermon nailed a three-pointer to start the first quarter to give the Yellow Jackets (3-2) an early 3-0 lead. R-MC expanded its lead to 7-2 before the Knights (1-3) used an 8-0 run to take a 10-7 advantage. Livermon tallied her second three-pointer of the game to tie the score at 10-10 with 4:07 remaining. The Knights held a 14-13 advantage before sophomore Teal Reynolds (Sterling, Va. / Potomac Falls) scored a jumper and a layup on a fast-break pass from Livermon to put the Yellow Jackets ahead 17-14 at the end of the first quarter.

The Knights cut R-MC's lead to one-point to start the second quarter. Vugteveen tallied her second bucket of the game to extend the Yellow Jackets' lead back to three-points, 19-16. R-MC expanded its lead with a 14-5 run, capped by a layup from junior Taylor Intermill (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax) to give the Yellow Jackets a 33-21 advantage with 5:14 remaining until halftime. The Knights went on a 6-2 run to cut their deficit to eight points at 35-27. Livermon tallied her fourth three-point shot of the game with under a minute remaining. The Yellow Jackets held a 38-29 advantage at the break.

At halftime, Livermon was nine points away from notching her 1,000th career point.

R-MC opened the third quarter on a 7-3 spurt to hold a 45-32 lead with 6:39 to play. The Knights used a 5-0 run to cut their deficit back to eight points but the Yellow Jackets responded with a layup from freshman Leara Shumate (Fishersville, Va. / Wilson Memorial) and three points from Intermill to extend their lead back to 13-points with 5:14 remaining. R-MC held a 53-41 lead which grew to 58-42 with a layup from freshman Deja Dennis (Owings Mills, Md. / Western School of Technology and Environmental Science) and a three-point play from Kelsey Wisner (York, Pa. / Central York). The Yellow Jackets owned a 62-48 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Two back-to-back layups from Livermon to begin the fourth quarter gave the Yellow Jackets a 66-50 lead and put her just two points away from hitting the 1,000th point mark. The Knights used a 7-1 run to pull within ten points before Livermon nailed her sixth three-pointer of the game to notch her 1,001st career point and give R-MC a 70-57 advantage. Neumann added pressure with a 6-0 spurt to erase a double-digit lead for the Yellow Jackets. R-MC responded with back-to-back layups from Vugteveen and a pair of free throws from Hester to grow its advantage to 76-63 with 2:07 remaining. The Knights added a 5-2 spurt of their own before R-MC claimed the 83-71 victory.

Dennis and freshman Jayla Wade (Newport News, Va. / Heritage) led the reserves with five points while Shumate and Wisner tallied four points each.

The Yellow Jackets open ODAC play on the road at Washington and Lee on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
