SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Seniors Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va. / Patrick Henry) and Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, Va. / Powhatan) tallied 21 points each as the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team fell to Wesleyan (Conn.) 61-60 Saturday afternoon in the Swarthmore Tip-Off Classic.

Senior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, Va. / Cape Henry Collegiate) added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals for R-MC.

The Yellow Jackets (2-2) faced an early 4-0 deficit before Anderson scored a bucket and Hester tallied two free throws to tie the score at 4-all. Anderson capitalized off a steal to give R-MC its first lead of the game at 6-4. The score was tied at 8-8 before the Cardinals (1-0) went on an 8-0 run to hold a 16-8 advantage. Hester was fouled on a layup and converted her free throw to cut R-MC's deficit to five points with 1:56 to play. Wesleyan held a 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Wesleyan expanded its lead to 10 points with a pair of free throws and a layup to start to the second quarter. Livermon nailed a three-pointer to put the Yellow Jackets within five points with 7:11 remaining until the break. The Cardinals scored the next six points to hold an 11-point advantage at 29-18. R-MC used a 5-0 spurt to pull within six points but the Cardinals expanded their lead back to 10-points, 33-23. The Yellow Jackets finished the quarter strong with a 4-0 run to face a 33-27 shortfall at halftime.

A jumper from junior Taylor Intermill (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax) early in the third quarter cut R-MC's deficit to four points before Wesleyan used a 6-0 spurt to extend its lead back to 10-points. Wesleyan held a 45-36 advantage with 4:04 to play. The Yellow Jackets went on a 9-4 run to make the score 49-45. The Cardinals held a 53-48 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Randolph-Macon erased Wesleyan's lead in the fourth quarter. Livermon scored on a fast-break followed by a layup from Anderson to put the Yellow Jackets within one-point at 53-52. The Cardinals tallied the next two layups before Livermon nailed a three-pointer to make the score 56-55. Anderson scored a layup with 3:52 remaining to give R-MC a 57-56 advantage. The Cardinals tallied the next four points to maintain a 60-57 lead. Hester was fouled on back-to-back possessions for the Yellow Jackets and tied the score at 60-60 with under a minute to play. The Cardinals went on to claim the 61-60 win.

Anderson led R-MC with nine rebounds while Hester and senior Lauren Vugteveen (Midlothian, Va. / Amelia Academy) each contributed four boards.

Livermon led the Yellow Jackets with three assists.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Sunday, Nov. 22 against Neumann at 1 p.m. on the final day of the Swarthmore Tip-Off Classic.
