Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI, but second-seeded Randolph-Macon dropped a 7-5 decision to No. 3 Bridgewater Saturday evening in an elimination game at the ODAC Baseball Championship at City Stadium.
The defending champion Yellow Jackets fell to 24-15. The Eagles (29-12) will face top-seeded Shenandoah on Sunday and will need two victories over the Hornets to win the title.
R-MC was playing catch-up most of the game. BC scored once in the third and added two in the fifth for a 3-0 advantage. The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Keeler drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a base hit by sophomore Michael Wallman (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) to make it 3-1.
The Eagles responded with a pair in the top of the sixth for a 5-1 lead. Junior Tim Benjamin (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) had a run-scoring single and Keeler added an RBI double in the bottom of the frame to trail 5-3.
Freshman Stuart Brown (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) doubled in a run in the seventh to make it a one-run contest at 5-4.
BC added two runs in the top of the eighth to extend its lead to 7-4. Keeler added another RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to narrow the deficit to two at 7-5. R-MC went down in order in the ninth to conclude their stay in Lynchburg.
Sophomore Travis Lodge (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) also finished with two hits for the Yellow Jackets.
