ASHLAND, Va. – Freshmen Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./Varina) and Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) both recorded a pair of wins as Randolph-Macon edged Bridgewater 5-4 in ODAC women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon at the Banks Tennis Center to conclude the regular season.
The Yellow Jackets (14-5, 9-2) moved past the Eagles (11-3, 8-2) into third place in the ODAC.
R-MC won two points in doubles and split three singles matches. McDonald won in straight sets at No. 3 singles and teamed with sophomore Angelina Sportelli (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
Tomlin was victorious at No. 5 singles in straight sets and combined with freshman Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) to roll 8-1 in No. 3 doubles.
Senior Olayemisi Ogunshina (Baltimore, Md./Wilde Lake), the reigning ODAC Player of the Week, also won at No. 4 doubles.
The quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 19. There are a pair of ODAC matches on Thursday, April 17 and the Yellow Jackets will learn their seed and opponent following those matches
