ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon women's tennis team lost just five games in doubles and five in singles in blanking Guilford 9-0 Monday in ODAC action at the Banks Tennis Center.
Senior Olayemisi Ogunshina (Baltimore, Md./Wilde Lake), the reigning ODAC Player of the Week, did not drop a game. She won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and teamed with freshman Kelsie Grice (Hoover, Ala./Charlotte Country Day) to take No. 2 doubles 8-0. Grice was victorious at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore Angelina Sportelli (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and joined freshman Toni McDonald (Richmond, Va./Varina) to capture No. 1 doubles 8-1. McDonald was victorious at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Melissa Tomlin (Prince George, Va./Prince George) dominated at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1 and partnered with freshman Molly Jesseman (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) to claim a victory at No. 3 doubles 8-4.
Senior Caty-Betz Holcomb (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Yellow Jackets (13-5, 8-2) won their fifth straight match and eighth in the past nine outings. R-MC concludes the regular season on Wednesday, April 16 with a home ODAC match against Bridgewater at 4 p.m. at the Banks Tennis Center.
