Box Score ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands—Junior Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) scored 16 points and recorded three steals as Randolph-Macon topped Emerson 70-63 Thursday morning in the first game of the St. Thomas Classic.
Livermon was one of three players in double figures for the Yellow Jackets (6-2). Junior Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, VA / Patrick Henry) and senior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, VA / J.R. Tucker) scored 14 points.
The Yellow Jackets faced a two-point deficit at the end of the first half as the Lions (6-2) held a 32-30 advantage. R-MC outscored Emerson 40-31 in the second period to pull out the victory. There were five ties and seven lead changes in the contest.
Anderson and Livermon led the team with eight rebounds.
Junior Khajae Hester (Virginia Beach, VA / Cape Henry Collegiate) led the Yellow Jackets with four assists.
R-MC tallied 13 steals in the contest. Anderson and Livermon recorded three steals while sophomore Marisha Berry (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) and freshman Amber Lee (Rockville, VA / Patrick Henry) both recorded two steals.
The Yellow Jackets shot 64.7% (22/34) from the free throw line. Parsons and Anderson were 6 of 10 from the charity stripe and junior Lauren Vugteveen (Midlothian, VA / Amelia Academy) knocked down all four of her free throws. Emerson hit just 16 of its 34 free throw attempts (45.5%).
R-MC shot 38.3% overall from the floor, while Emerson shot 34.4%.
The Yellow Jackets return to the court in the St. Thomas Classic on Friday, December 19, against Nichols College at 10 a.m.
