Box Score EMORY, Va. – Senior defender Brock Barbeau (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond-Suffolk Academy) scored the first two goals for Randolph-Macon as the Yellow Jackets shut out Emory & Henry 4-0 Saturday in ODAC men's soccer.
Barbeau scored in the 23rd minute to snap a scoreless tie and added a second goal in the 26th minute to give the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 1-2) a 2-0 lead. Senior midfielder David Sullivan (Middletown, Md./Middletown) assisted on the first goal and sophomore forward Andrew Oakes (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) helped on the second.
Freshman defender Jack Maxey (Salem, Va./Salem) connected on a free kick from the left side at the 36:05 mark as R-MC built a 3-0 advantage. Senior forward Will Topping (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) added a goal 21 seconds later on an assist by freshman forward Matt Houle (Charleston, S.C./Academic Magnet) to put the Jackets on top 4-0.
The Wasps (1-8, 0-3) outshot the Yellow Jackets 22-12. R-MC connected on four of its five shots in the first period. Barbeau scored on both his shots, while sophomore forwards Zack Poston (Chesterfield, Va./Richmond Christian) and Caleb Hatcher (West Point, Va./West Point) both had two shots as well.
Senior Cris Lowe (Rome, Ga./Darlington Academy) (62 minutes), freshman C.J. Montalbano (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) (27 minutes) and freshman Nathan Jones (Franklin, Va./Franklin) (1 minute) combined on the shutout for R-MC. Montalbano recorded four saves for the Jackets.
R-MC returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with a 4:30 p.m. home ODAC contest against Randolph.
