How it happened
- Neither team generated much offense early, but in the 30th minute the Yellow Jackets began creating chances through Jayden Walker (Suffolk, Va./Norfolk Collegiate) and Bryce Kuberek (King George, Va./King George).
- The senior class: Grant Counts (Odenton, Md./St. Mary's-Annapolis), Zach Richards (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown), Ethan Eshelman (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester), Grayson Woods (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park), Kevin Sprince (Richmond, Va./Deep Run), Ian Edwards (Stafford, Va./North Stafford), Eubank and Kuberek anchored the effort as the teams entered halftime tied 0-0.
- Southern Virginia tested goalkeeper Ethan Chenoweth (Newport News, Va./Warwick) early in the second half with a shot toward just beneath the crossbar, but he made a strong save to keep the game scoreless. Randolph-Macon raised its intensity after Woods was given a red card in the 54th minute despite being down a man.
- In the 85th minute, Jadon Hawker (Danville, Va./Tunstall) slipped a pass to Elijah Caro (Asheville, N.C./Black Mountain), who drew a foul inside the box. Eubank converted the penalty kick to put the Jackets in front, and the defense held firm to close out the 1-0 victory.
