Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse (8-0 / 3-0) broke the program record for best starting record after defeating Randolph College 18-7 Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets improve to 8-0 overall and will travel to Washington and Lee Wednesday, March 27th for a 4:30 ODAC contest.
Emily Lynch got the Yellow Jackets going early by scoring the first three goals of the contest, the final coming with 23:44 remaining in the first half. The senior finished with five goals for the game.
Jenelle Whitman, Betsy Hebert, Alyssa Chavez and Natalie Schnell then followed with goals to stretch the Randolph-Macon advantage to 7-0.
The WildCats' Danielle Haney put Randolph on the board with a score at the 14:13 mark but the Yellow Jackets rallied for three straight goals, capped off with a Jackie Martin score before Randolph-Macon took a 11-3 edge into halftime.
R-MC opened up the second half with five straight goals, three on free position shots to extend the lead to 16-3.
Randolph scored the final three goals of the contest but it was not nearly enough as Randolph-Macon took the game 18-7.
Lynch paced R-MC with five goals and also caused two turnovers. Hebert added two goals and two assists while Chavez and Whitman chipped in with two. Rachel Johnsen scored twice and led the team with six draw controls and five groundballs.
Nicole Woodworth picked up the win between the pipes after making nine saves on 12 shots. Morgan Tignor stopped two shots.
Taylor Klevens, Danielle Haney, Melanie Eisele led the WildCats with two goals each. Samantha Fagone made 14 saves in the loss.
