Box Score ASHLAND, VA – No. 15 Washington and Lee used a big second-half to break open what was a tight game at the intermission and score a 19-7 victory over Randolph-Macon.
R-MC finishes the regular season 8-9 overall and 4-5 in the ODAC. The Yellow Jackets will await the results of the remaining league games on Saturday to see who and where they will play their ODAC Tournament quarterfinal game.
The Yellow Jackets got three goals and an assist from Emily Lynch and a pair of scores from Betsy Hebert. Nicole Woodworth made 11 stops in the cage for R-MC.
After Lynch scored to tie the game 1-1 with just over 26 minutes to play in the first-half, W&L scored three straight times to push ahead 4-1 with 24:17 to go in the half.
R-MC was able to cut the lead to one halfway through the first stanza with back-to-back goals by Kelly Egan and Lynch making the score 4-3.
Washington and Lee (13-3 / 9-0 ODAC) finished the first-half on a 3-1 run to take a 7-4 advantage to the locker room. The Generals then came out and scored the first six goals of the second-half to go up 13-4 and seal the win.
The Generals got hat tricks from Maddie McKaig and Alli Sherin in the victory and outshot R-MC 33-13
