Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Roanoke scored the final two goals of the first half and the first eight goals of the second half to break open a close game en route to a 22-7 ODAC win over Randolph-Macon on Sunday afternoon in Ashland.
R-MC (5-5 / 3-1 ODAC) was led by Erin Clare Cassidy's four goals, while Kelly Egan had two goals and an assist and Elyse Cooper had a goal as well.
Gina Valles led RC (6-5 / 3-2 ODAC) with six goals, while Jamie Golden and Meegan Rourke each had five scores as well for the Maroons in the win.
Cooper put the Jackets up 1-0, 1:56 into the contest. RC then battled back to pull ahead 2-1, before Cassidy tied the game at the 24:27 mark.
Goals by Valles and Kathleen Wagner put the Maroons up 4-2, before a goal by Egan and back-to-back strikes by Cassidy pushed R-MC in front 5-4 with 12:35 to play.
Scores by Valles, Golden and Carolyn Miller put RC back out in front 7-5 before Egan scored with just under six minutes to play in the half to pull R-MC within one.
Back-to-back goals by Golden right before the half sent RC to the intermission in front 9-6. The Maroons then put the game away with an 8-0 run to start the second half, taking a 17-6 advantage when Laura Eastlake scored with 14:26 to go in the game.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Thursday it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 7:00 p.m. game.
