Randolph-Macon Women's Tennis (7-7 / 3-7 ODAC) swept all six singles matches Monday in Ashland to secure an 8-1 victory over Randolph College and a bid to the 2011 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament.
Olayemisi Ogunshina,
Sarah Rainey and
Reba Sledd all claimed both a doubles and a singles victory to lead the Yellow Jackets.
Ogunshina defeated Kalyne Lynch 6-2, 6-1 in a matchup of the No. 3 singles players. The freshman paired with Rainey, who won her No. 4 singles contest 6-0, 6-0, for an 8-0 doubles victory over Brooke Camper and Lynch.
Sledd scored a straight sets win over Mi Dan Nguyen 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with Chelsea Jones in doubles competition and did not drop a set, winning 8-0.
Martha Vlahakis downed Lori Gerlach 6-2, 6-4 in a matchup of the No. 1 singles players.
Randolph-Macon also took the No. 2 singles match when
Caty-Betz Holcomb defeated Shantel Rivera in a tie breaker set 6-1, 4-6, 10-8.
Jane Oh added to the R-MC win total with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Adrienne Nappier.
The Yellow Jackets wrap up the 2011 regular season when they host Southern Virginia Wednesday, April 13th for a 4:00 match. R-MC will then enter the 2011 ODAC Women's Tennis Tournament as the No.8 seed. Game time, date and location will be posted at athletics.rmc.edu as it is released by the conference.
