Box Score ASHLAND, VA – Fueled by a 10 point day from Kelly Egan, the Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse team notched its first win of the 2011 season and the first career victory for head coach Caitlin Erickson with a 19-2 decision over Cedar Crest.
Egan scored four goals and added six assists for a career-high 10 point day. R-MC (1-3) also got five goals from Elyse Cooper, three goals each from Holly Sargeant and Erin Clare Cassidy and a pair of scores from Rachel Johnsen.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first six goals of the game with Johnsen taking a pass from Egan to cap the early run with 21:50 to go in the half.
After Cedar Crest (0-1) got on the board with a goal by Becca Lowe at the 19:52 mark, R-MC reeled off a 7-1 run to close the first stanza with Cassidy scoring as time expired to send the teams to the locker room with the Jackets up 13-2.
R-MC shut out Cedar Crest in the second half, scoring all six goals, getting a pair from Egan in the second frame on the way to the win.
R-MC outshot Cedar Crest 37-5, held a 16-3 edge in draw controls and a 15-10 edge in ground balls.
The Yellow Jackets will be off until next Saturday when it hosts Washington College at 2:00 p.m.
