LEXINGTON, VA -- The 15th-ranked Washington and Lee women's
lacrosse team used an 11-0 run that covered both halves to open
up a tight game at the half and post a 16-4 victory over
Randolph-Macon in semifinal action of the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference women's lacrosse tournament on Wednesday afternoon at
Watt Field.
With R-MC (8-5) trailing 2-0, the Jackets' Logan Pomeroy
tallied a goal to bring the score to 2-1 with 17:57 remaining in
the first half.
The Generals received a tally from junior midfielder Emmy
Mathews to extend their lead to 3-1 with 13:56 remaining in the
first stanza. However, R-MC tallied the next two goals from senior
midfielder Kelly
Cramer and junior attacker Erin Clare
Cassidy to knot the game at 3-3 at the 9:37 mark.
W&L (12-4) started its 11-0 run with 5:49 remaining in the
first half by recording three goals, including two from Megargel
and one from McKaig, to take a 6-3 lead at the half.
A quick strike from senior attacker Meredith Freeman just 41
seconds into the second half kept the Generals' streak alive, as
they would go on to record the next eight goals to assume a 14-3
lead with 10:42 remaining in the contest.
R-MC was paced by Cassidy, who finished the game with two goals.

The Yelow Jackets will play a non-conference game with Mary
Washington on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in Ashland.
