Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA
– Harry Snyder scored five goals and added one assist
to lead the University of Mary Washington men's lacrosse team to a
10-8 victory over visiting Randolph-Macon College on Wednesday at
the Battleground.
R-MC is now 2-2 on the year. The Eagles, winners of
four straight, improve to 4-3 on the year.
An EMO goal by Jake Leddy gave R-MC a 1-0
lead before Johnny Hink knotted the game at 1-1. Tyler
Midwinter closed out the first quarter with back-to-back goals to
push the Jackets in front 3-1 after one.
Snyder
opened the second stanza scoring to pull the Eagles within one
before Midwinter struck with 2:15 to go in the half to put R-MC up
4-2. Snyder answered with a goal with 47 seconds to go in the
half to send the teams to the intermission with R-MC up 4-3.
Billy Rowe
scored the first goal of the second stanza at the 13:52 mark of the
third quarter, extending the Jackets advantage to 5-3.
After a
3-0 run by UMW, Brian Rowe tallied a score on assist from Midwinter
to tie the contest at 6-6 after three quarters of play.
With the score 8-7 in favor of Mary
Washington, Midwinter got the equalizer with 6:15 to play to make
the score 8-8, but Snyder would score a pair of goals in a span of
44 seconds following Midwinter's goal to give the Eagles the
win.
Mary Washington outshot Randolph-Macon, 42-31, and won 15 of 22
faceoffs. UMW goalie Matt
Prin made 12 saves, while Adam Liberto had eight saves
for RMC.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Saturday when it opens
up ODAC play at Guilford. Faceoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
