ASHLAND, VA - Behind four goals from Morgan Hutchinson, the
Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse team topped home standing Sweet
Briar 20-6 Saturday in ODAC action.
R-MC (8-6 / 6-2 ODAC) also got three goals from
Kelly Egan and Laura Fox in the win. Elyse Cooper, Amanda Rzucidlo
and Kelly Cramer all tallied two strikes on the day, while Alex
Flammia made 10 saves in net for the Yellow Jackets.
Randolph-Macon will be back in action on
Wednesday when it hosts Guilford in the first-round of the 2009
ODAC Tournament. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets defeated the Quakers, 12-10,
in their regular season meeting. As the fourth seed in the
tournament, Virginia Wesleyan College (8-8, 5-3) hosts the
remaining quarterfinal as the Marlins welcome Lynchburg College
(8-8, 4-4) to the beach. VWC got the best of the Hornets in the
regular season, 18-11, in Virginia Beach.
Roanoke College won each of its eight ODAC
league games during the 2009 season, earning the top seed in the
upcoming ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament. The Maroons (13-4
overall, 8-0 ODAC) and second-seeded Washington and Lee University
(11-4, 7-1) receive first round byes in the field of six teams.
The two winners will meet Washington and Lee or
Roanoke in the semifinals on Saturday, April 25. The championship
contest is slated for Sunday, April 26. Game times will be
announced at a later date.
