ASHLAND, Va. – The Randolph-Macon softball team launched three homers in game two, gaining a split with Bridgewater in the final home doubleheader of the season.

How it Happened
Game 1:
- Randolph-Macon saw Kailey Jackson (Virginia Beach, Va./Colonial) dealing in the first four innings, giving up only one hit and a walk. The sophomore also added four strikeouts in the first four frames for the Yellow Jackets.
- Mackenzie Cauthorn of Bridgewater matched the pitching performance of Jackson, tossing a scoreless four innings and piled up the strikeouts with ten. The senior gave up only one hit in the first four four frames and the score would stay locked at 0-0.
- The Eagles broke open the scoring in the top of the fifth inning, as Andrea Savage launched a solo homer over the left field fence. Lily Moyers singled down the left field line and Molly Ecroyd was sent in to pinch run. Abby Byrum got Ecroyd over to second with a sacrifice bunt and Lexi Schaaf doubled to allow Ecroyd to score from second. Bridgewater used the two run inning to take the lead in the game at 2-0.
- In the seventh inning, Cauthorn singled up the middle and Sarah Kate Tozier pinch ran at first base. Aniella Baldwin drew a full count walk to put two runners on with zero outs. McKenna Mueller singled down the right field line to plate Tozier and move Baldwin to third base. Olivia Eastlake scored Baldwin on a sacrifice flyout to right field for the second run of the inning. Jackson kept the damage to just two runs and the Eagles extended their lead to 4-0.
- Randolph-Macon could not rally in the bottom of the seventh inning and dropped game one by a score of 4-0.

- Jackson started the game for the Yellow Jackets, tossing all seven innings and gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out five.
- Tori Powell (Freeman, Va./Mecklenberg County) and Mya Davis (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) each recorded a hit for the Yellow Jackets.
How it Happened
Game 2:
- The game started with a bang in the bottom of the second inning with a solo bomb by Kiley Lamberth (Mechanicsville, Va./Mechanicsville). The inning continued with back-to-back walks by Jordan Brown (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) and Powell. Charlotte Boswell (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) brought everyone home with a three-run homer to make the score 4-0 for the Lemon and Black.
- Randolph-Macon got strong pitching by Sierra Kegley (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) throughout the first five innings. The freshman allowed only one hit and sat down four with the strikeout pitch.
- In the fifth inning, Ashley Bush (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) drew a leadoff walk and Alyssa Meharg (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) was sent in to pinch run. Katerina Brabson (Chesapeake Beach, Md./Northern) singled to put two runners on. Davis bunted both runners into scoring position, setting up a Lamberth sacrifice flyout to left field to plate Meharg from third. Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) kept the inning alive with an infield single to put runners at the corners and two out. Bailey Talley (Craigsville, Va./Buffalo Gap) ended the game with a three-run homer to give Randolph-Macon the 8-0 game two win.
By the Numbers
- Kegley started the game for the Lemon and Black, tossing five shutout innings only gave up one hit and struck out four.
- Boswell and Talley both hit three-run homers.
- Lamberth ended the game with a home run and two RBIs.
For the Record
- Kegley pitched her seventh shutout of the year, moving into a tie for fifth all-time for shutouts in a single season. The last Yellow Jacket pitcher to have seven shutouts in a season was Gracie Ellis '25 in 2023.
