Lady Jackets Spoil Eagles’ Senior Day in Impressive Afternoon Performance

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Randolph-Macon women's tennis demonstrated a dominant performance on the road against Bridgewater, giving the team back-to-back sweeps and six on the season.

Doubles
 
Randolph-Macon dominated doubles play, earning wins in 18 of the 20 possible games. Meckenzie Letellier (Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton) and Victoria Updike (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) paced the Yellow Jackets, registering a sweep at second doubles. Catherine Mowry (Lynchburg, Va./Liberty Christian Academy) and Camilla Thurman (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) only dropped one game, winning 6-1 at first doubles, while Campbell Andrulot (Baldwin, Md./Dulaney) and Salomea Tchantouridze (Barre, Vt./U-32) did the same.
 
Letellier and Updike continue their impressive play, as the duo has now won five of their last seven matches. After registering a 6-1 win at first doubles, Mowry and Thurman have now won three matches in which they allowed one or fewer games won by the opponent. Andrulot has also won four of her five career doubles matches, while her and Tchantouridze have now won back-to-back matches.

Singles
 
The momentum from doubles carried over into singles, as the Lemon and Black swept the board. Updike shined at fourth singles, as the freshman recorded a sweep. Mowry, Letellier and Tchantouridze all shut out their opponents in the second set, as both Mowry and Tchantouridze only dropped one game in their first sets. Thurman won an exciting match at first singles, as she rebounded with a confident tiebreak after a suspenseful second set.
