ASHLAND, Va. - RMC women's lacrosse edged out the St. Mary's College (Md.) Seahawks, 9-7, in a tough Wednesday night bout during game two of the Yellow Jackets' four-game homestand.

How it Happened
- It only took Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) 0:43 to ignite the scoring for the Yellow Jackets, with the help of an assist from Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding). Less than a minute later, Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) found the back of the net to double Randolph-Macon's lead. With 2:24 to play in the first period, Toth found Campbell Conway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's), who put one away, stretching the lead to three. With eight ticks left in the first quarter, Brooklynn Ricker (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) beat the Seahawks defense to give the Lemon and Black a 4-0 advantage after the first frame.
- Defense was key in the first six minutes of the second quarter. Ricker fired up the offense, earning a free position shot and converting at the 8:48 mark. St. Mary's answered with a free position goal of their own with 1:52 to play in the half, making the game 4-1. Senior goalie Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) would make a textbook save with two seconds left in the half to keep the Yellow Jackets' lead at four.
- The Seahawks would find offensive success first in the second half, as Hope Harrison found the back of the net at the 12:38 mark. One minute later, Fowler would repay the favor, setting McNeally up for a score to keep the Yellow Jackets' lead at four. on the powerplay with 9:33 left in the third, Sanne Elling would net a goal for the Seahawks to cut their deficit to three. Midway through the third period, Conway netted her second goal of the evening with the help of a pass from McNeally. Harrison scored again for the Seahawks to make the score 7-4 with three minutes left in the third period. The Yellow Jackets would fend off the Seahawks' offense to close out the third quarter with a 7-4 lead.
- Toth cashed in on a free position shot to put the Yellow Jackets ahead by four with 13:20 to play. The Seahawks stayed in the game with back-to-back goals, making it a two-goal game with 12:15 left. Ricker recorded her hat-trick goal with 4:34 to play on a free position shot. St. Mary's found the back of the net once more with 3:05 to play, but still found themselves trailing the Yellow Jackets, 9-7. The Yellow Jackets' defense would hold strong and secure the midweek victory against the Seahawks.
