STEVENSON, Md. - Randolph-Macon Women's Lacrosse battled Stevenson for a Wednesday evening matchup, coming up short in a hard-fought 14-8 loss.

How it Happened
- Five minutes after the first draw, Stevenson tallied the first goal of the game on a shot from Emma Carpenter. It only took one minute for RMC to answer when Campbell Conway (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) found Caty Benton (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) to level the score at 1-1. At the 8:49 mark, Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) put the Yellow Jacket in the lead 2-1. Three minutes later, Stevenson found an equalizing goal of their own on a man-up free-position goal. Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) took the lead back, scoring an unassisted man-down goal with 3:50 left in the first quarter. 30 seconds later, Stevenson evened up the score once again on a man-up goal. At the 1:58 mark, the Mustangs grabbed their second lead of the game on a goal from Olivia Galati, eventually taking a 4-3 lead into the second quarter.
- Both teams started the quarter trading possessions until 12:59 in the frame, when Ava Treakle found the back of the net for a 5-3 Stevenson lead. At the 8:36 mark, the Mustangs extended their lead to 6-3. Fowler stopped the Stevenson run after causing a turnover, picking up the groundball and slicing through the defense for the Yellow Jackets' fourth goal. With 3:39 left to play before the half, Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) cashed in on a free-position shot, cutting the Mustang's lead to 6-5. Megan Greenwell grabbed the final goal of the half for Stevenson and entered the break with a 7-5 lead.
- Five minutes into the start of the third quarter, the Mustangs added their eighth goal of the contest. Stevenson extended its lead with 9:13 and 5:50 on the clock, scoring back-to-back goals to grab a 10-5 lead. Fowler tallied her 10th goal of the season, shutting down the Mustangs' run once again with 2:33 left in the third quarter. Right before the end of the quarter, freshman attacker Brooklynn Ricker (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) cut the deficit to three goals heading into the final frame.
- The Mustangs continued to maintain control to start the quarter, scoring three goals in the first 3 minutes and 48 seconds of the quarter. At the 8:22 mark, the Mustangs recorded their 14th and final goal of the game from Galati. The rest of the quarter, The Lemon and Black would continue to press in the final minutes. With 16 seconds left in the game, Grayson Cornelius (Glenwood, Md./Glenelg High School) connected with Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill), grabbing one final goal, making the final score 14-8.
