Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for a career-high third time this season and for the sixth time in her career.
Ambrogi-Torres guided her team to a 2-1 record in the past week, including a shutout. The junior posted a career-high 20 saves while only allowing one goal against Mary Washington. She followed this performance by registering her 14th career shutout, anchoring the Yellow Jackets in a 3-0 win at Lancaster Bible. Ambrogi-Torres' week was capped off with a 3-2 victory against Centre, holding the Colonels scoreless through three frames of play.
The goalkeeper's 24 saves within one week marks a new personal best. She now sits at 66 saves on the season, the most she has made within the first nine games of a season in her career. Ambrogi-Torres has not allowed more than two goals scored in any of her nine games started this season.
The Yellow Jackets have shut out opponents four times this season, with two at home and two away. They will remain home on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. contest against Eastern Mennonite for Umpire Appreciation and the Green Bandana Project Game.
