How it Happened
- Throughout most of the first quarter, both teams were battling on the defensive end. Kylee Gorham (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) registered the only shot in the frame for either team.
- RMC opened up the second quarter with a penalty corner. Although they were unable to convert, the Yellow Jackets proceeded to steer away two shots and a penalty corner two minutes later. After an impressive save from Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School), the home team took the momentum for the rest of the quarter, posting two shots on goal and a penalty corner in the final minute.
- The Yellow Jackets picked up where they left off, taking four shots and two penalty corners before the Seahawks could record an offensive statistic. Then, the Seahawks fought back, registering three shots and two penalty corners of their own. Although both teams were able to find a groove offensively, the score remained 0-0 heading into the fourth.
- The Yellow and Black recorded the first shot of the fourth quarter, but it was Emma Watkins of the Seahawks posting the first goal of the game. Although down 1-0, Randolph-Macon delivered three more shots, one of them stemming from a penalty corner. Even though they created quality chances, the Seahawks then came down the field and scored in an empty net, ending the game at 2-0.
