WESTMINSTER, Md. – After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Randolph-Macon used an aggressive second half to capture its third-straight season-opening win and third win in-a-row against McDaniel.

How it Happened
- Three minutes into the first quarter, it was McDaniel who recorded the first shot on goal, but Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) recorded her first save of the season. Halfway through the opening frame, the Yellow Jackets took control, as they logged two penalty corners and a shot on goal in a span of 18 seconds. Breea Dresler (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) inserted both times and Annie Pruitt (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded a shot that was blocked. With just over three minutes left in the first, Dresler ripped two shots including one on goal, while the Green Terror also used a defensive save. The final push of the frame was from Peyton Sutton (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester), as she recorded her first shot on goal with 80 seconds left, but the contest remained scoreless after one.
- Kylee Gorham (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland) tallied her first and team's third shot on goal of the game to begin the second. After the save, McDaniel took advantage, as it posted a 1-0 lead as a result of four shots and back-to-back penalty corners. Despite the goal, Ambrogi-Torres stopped two of the three shots on net, while RMC also blocked a shot during the pressure. The Lemon and Black earned their third penalty corner of the contest which permitted Pruitt to take her second shot, but the Green Terror defense held. With under five minutes to go before the half, Olivia Greene (Amissville, Va./Culpeper County) rifled three-straight shots on goal. While this did result in another penalty corner, another shot on goal from Dresler was not enough to even the score.
- The Yellow Jackets came out aggressive to start the third quarter, as a shot from Caitlin Porter (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) resulted in a penalty corner for Natalee Fortin (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside). Porter seized the opportunity, as the senior scored her third-career goal to even the game 1-1. Once Ambrogi-Torres stopped a shot on goal in the following minute, McKayla Clark (Gloucester, Va./Gloucester) located Janne Roelink (Den Helder, Netherlands/Norfolk Collegiate) to capture a 2-1 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third frame. Porter was able to post another shot on goal, as the pressure helped Randolph-Macon maintain a 2-1 edge heading into the fourth.
- Four minutes into the final quarter, RMC earned a penalty corner, but McDaniel took the momentum with nine minutes remaining. The Green Terror tallied five shots, including three on goal, as well as a penalty corner. Ambrogi-Torres and the Lemon and Black defense shut down the pressure with the other two shots getting blocked, allowing the Yellow Jackets to lock up a comeback 2-1 victory.
