How it Happened
- The Eagles opened the first frame of play with the momentum, posting four shots and two penalty corners before the Yellow Jackets could put up a penalty corner of their own. After Ambrogi-Torres made her first stop of the game, RMC recorded back-to-back penalty corners, applying some pressure toward the end of the first.
- The second quarter continued in similar fashion, with Mary Washington posting four shots, including three on goal. Even though none found the back of the cage, the Eagles maintained an offensive presence. With three minutes remaining in the half, Breea Dresler (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) inserted a penalty corner and was able to get a shot off. RMC closed out the half with one final shot, but the score remained 0-0.
- Mary Washington started the third quarter with nine shots, forcing Ambrogi-Torres to make five saves. After holding the Eagles scoreless through the first five minutes of the quarter, the home team recorded its own penalty corner and shot on goal to even out the pressure. Despite its small burst, Randolph-Macon was unable to score heading into the final quarter.
- With the score still tied 0-0, the Eagles unleashed 12 shots to open the frame. Ambrogi-Torres stopped seven and Grace Oates (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) posted the second defensive save of her career. With under two minutes remaining, Anna Reed scored for the Eagles. The Yellow Jackets were unable to tie the game, resulting in a 1-0 final score.
