ASHLAND, Va. – For the second consecutive game, Randolph-Macon posted three goals and did not allow more than one, helping the team solidify three wins through its first four games.

How it Happened
- Within the first two minutes of the game, Olivia Greene (Amissville, Va./Culpeper County) found the back of the cage for her second goal of the season, igniting the offense for a 1-0 lead. After continuing to dominate the time of possession battle, Brenna McLean (Rock Hall, Md./Queene Anne's County) ripped two shots on-goal in back-to-back possessions to keep the momentum with RMC. In the final two minutes of the frame, Hood found some pressure, as it posted three shots including two on goal off two penalty corners. While Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) was able to make the first two stops, the Blazers tied the contest 1-1 with a goal at the 13:33 mark.
- Both Randolph-Macon and Hood generated early penalty corner opportunities in the second frame but it was the Blazers who strung together back-to-back corners just four minutes in. Once Ambrogi-Torres made the stop, her defensive back line kept the ball out of the zone until the Blazers found themselves with a yellow card, putting them down a player for the rest of the half. Despite this, HC worked for another two corners with four minutes remaining before the half resulting in two blocked shots and a save from Ambrogi-Torres. The road team grinded for one more push, which included a wide shot from another penalty corner, but the score remained 1-1 at the half.
- While the Blazers generated a quick corner opportunity just 1:15 into the third period, Janne Roelink (Den Helder, Netherlands/Norfolk Collegiate) responded and slotted a shot into the back corner of the cage, re-establishing a 2-1 lead for her squad. After the nice feed from Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield), the Lemon and Black regained the momentum after the goal and continued to live in the offensive zone, as the ball continued to find itself near the Hood goalkeeper. While the score remained 2-1 at the end of the third, Randolph-Macon was diligent in the period, as it trailed 9-to-16 in fouls over the 15 minutes.
- Moul created a shot on goal opportunity in the first 90 seconds of the fourth, followed by a shot wide from Kylee Gorham (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland). Three minutes later, Roelink threw a quick shot on goal, but the Blazers' Allison Wallin was able to make the stop. The pressure mounted for RMC, as some crafty work from Greene drew another foul, which resulted in a penalty corner. Although the Lemon and Black did not score on that possession, they were able to convert with 3:45 remaining to establish a 3-1 blow. Penelope Trageser (Midlothian, Va./Clover Hill) slid a nice pass along the baseline to a wide open Roelink in front of the net, giving the junior her second goal of the day. A final minute penalty corner from HC was not enough to even the score, as RMC held solid for a 3-1 win.
