FOREST, Va. – Junior goalkeeper
Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and for the fifth time in her career.
Ambrogi-Torres continued her amazing season with back-to-back shutouts this past week. The junior posted three saves in a 3-0 shutout on the road against Barton College and five saves against Meredith for another 3-0 victory. This is Ambrogi-Torres' 13
th career shutout and third of the season.
After stopping all eight shots she faced, she now has the highest save percentage (.921) and lowest goals allowed per game average (.60) in her career. This is also the second time in her career registering back-to-back shutouts.
The Yellow Jackets have their best record (4-1) through the first five games of a season since the program's 1999 season. They will remain home on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. contest against St. Mary's College of Maryland.
