Field Hockey Placed Fifth in ODAC Preseason Poll

8/27/2025 2:00:00 PM

FOREST, Va. – Randolph-Macon Field Hockey has been selected to finish fifth in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason poll. Heading into their 11th season under head coach Jessica Weiss, the Yellow Jackets look to build on a 2024 campaign that saw a 9-8 record, after going 11-7 in the 2023 season. With a winning percentage greater than .500, the program could record its third consecutive season with a winning record, joining the 2009-11 Yellow Jackets as the only rosters in program history to accomplish the feat since 2000.

Two nationally ranked teams tied for the first two spots in the poll, with 11th-ranked Shenandoah and 17th-ranked Lynchburg each earning four first place votes and 60 points. Washington and Lee follow closely behind with a first-place vote and 50 points. Bridgewater was tabbed in fourth with 42 points. Randolph-Macon rounds out the top five with 34 points. The bottom four consist of Virginia Wesleyan with 29 points, Roanoke with 26, Sweet Briar with 13 and Eastern Mennonite with 10 points.

RMC is set up for a strong season, with multitudes of production returning. The Yellow Jackets return two of their five all-ODAC student-athletes, who saw the Lemon and Black rank second in the ODAC in defensive saves (15) last season, ranking tied-17th nationally among Division III programs.
