How it Happened
- Catholic seemed to have all of the momentum in the opening quarter. The Cardinals recorded three penalty corners and three shots, holding the Yellow Jackets to none in both categories.
- In the second frame, Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) recorded her second save of the game. Dresler followed this by attempting back-to-back penalty corners. Finally, Thach recorded her first goal of the season to put RMC up, 1-0.
- Just under five minutes into the third, Janne Roelink (Den Helder, Netherlands/Norfolk Collegiate) shot the ball over to Dresler, as she was able to locate it and register her second goal of the season, putting the Yellow Jackets up 2-0. Catholic then closed the quarter with a penalty corner and three consecutive shots.
- The Cardinals came close to mounting the comeback, registering 10 shots and eight penalty corners to close out the game. Despite scoring in the last second of play, the Yellow Jackets were able to hang on to a 2-1 victory.
