How it Happened
- Defense was strong on both sides in the first frame, as both teams were able to get scoring opportunities. Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) led the charge with two early saves. The Yellow Jackets also earned four penalty corners, while holding the Green Terror to none.
- The second quarter opened with some aggressive play from McDaniel, as they registered three consecutive shots, resulting in two blocks and a save. Despite not scoring, the Green Terror out-shot RMC 4-1 heading into halftime.
- The Green Terror continued their offensive pressure, as they posted two shots and a penalty corner midway through the third. While RMC was not able to record any shots in the frame, a defensive save from Hailey Swartzbaugh (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) helped the Jackets close the quarter.
- On the first possession of the fourth, Llana Thach (Henrico, Va./Glen Allen) put a shot on goal, that was then rebounded and put in net by Cali Kujawa (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan), giving the Jackets a 1-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Brenna McLean (Rock Hall, Md./Queen Anne's County) provided an excellent pass to Breea Dresler (Yorktown, Va./Tabb) allowing Dresler to put the Lemon and black up for good, 2-0.
