LEXINGTON, Va. - Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse had multi-goal games from Elaina Creekmore (Pasadena, Md./Old Mill) and Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) in its conference semifinal clash with top-seeded Washington and Lee.

The Basics

Score: (4) Randolph-Macon 6, (1) Washington and Lee 18
Venue: Lexington, Virginia // Washington and Lee University // Watt Field
Records: Randolph-Macon (14-5, 8-2), Washington and Lee (15-4, 10-0)

How it Happened
  • Washington and Lee started the scoring with a quick goal by Lara Baki just 25 seconds into the game. The Generals forced a tough offensive possession for Randolph-Macon and took the turnover coast-to-coast, finishing with a Caroline Foster goal. Foster scored her second straight goal with 10:43 on the clock, using a feed from Sophie Edwards. The Yellow Jackets took advantage of a Washington and Lee turnover and Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester) got the Lemon and Black on the board. Minutes later, Evie McNeally found her sister Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) that finished the play with her first goal of the afternoon. Randolph-Macon used the back-to-back goals to cut the Generals lead in half at 4-2 with 6:55 left in the first quarter. Washington and Lee added a goal from Baki to send its lead back to 5-2. Evie McNeally would cut into the Generals lead with an assist by Lilly Fowler (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) for a successful power play for the Yellow Jackets. Emma Marsh scored the final goal of the first quarter in the final minute to push the lead to 6-3 for Washington and Lee.
  • In the second quarter, the Lemon and Black held tough defensively to keep the Generals off the scoreboard, Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) made two crucial saves. Katie Reed would score both of the Washington and Lee goals in the final two minutes of the second quarter. Randolph-Macon had chances on offense, using the impressive defense for the majority of the quarter but were unable to find the back of the net. The Generals would stand tough in their own right on defense, taking a 8-3 lead into halftime.
  • Washington and Lee scored three straight goals to begin the third quarter, headlined by two Hannah Van Son goals. The Generals continued to build their lead to 12-3 with a goal by Foster with 10:40 on the clock. Creekmore ended the scoring drought for the Lemon and Black with a goal at the 1:43 mark of the third. Randolph-Macon would head into the final fifteen minutes facing a 13-4 deficit.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Generals struck first with an unassisted goal by Van Son. Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) facilitated the offense for the Yellow Jackets, assisting back-to-back goals by Evie McNeally and Creekmore. Washington and Lee scored the final four goals in the final nine minutes, defeating Randolph-Macon 18-6.
