How It Happened
- After both teams were retired in order in the first, the Falcons exploded for six in the top of the second.
- Sophomore Zach Wernoski (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) was hit by a pitch with one away in the bottom of the second and Duff sent him to third on a one-out single to left, but both runners were stranded.
- Freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) reached on an error to start the third and moved to third on a two-out single by junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's), but neither was able to score.
- Messiah added a run in the seventh and put up eighth in the ninth to make the final 15-0.
By The Numbers
- Duff went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles. He had nine putouts and one assist, throwing out a would-be base stealer at third in the fifth.
