LEXINGTON, Va. – Avery Tankersley scored his 100th career goal as part of a four-goal performance, helping pace Men's Lacrosse against #10 Washington and Lee in an overtime loss on Saturday.

How it Happened
- Tankersley got the scoring started with a goal less than two minutes into the game to five RMC an early 1-0 edge. The next two goals went in favor of the Generals, but RMC got a goal from Nick Harrington (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) to even the score at two, which it remained for the final eight minutes of the stanza.
- Jack Twomey (Reston, Va./Gonzaga) hit Matt Carter (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) streaking down the field to give RMC a 3-2 lead a minute into the second quarter. The lead doubled with a man-down goal for Harrington's second of the game with 12:37 until half. After W&L cut the deficit back to one, Tankersley buried his second goal, followed by a tally by Peyton Rodriguez (Santa Barbara, Ca./Bishop Garcia Diego) to push the RMC lead to 6-3. The second quarter scoring didn't stop there, as the Generals found the back of the net again with 7:25 left, followed by a JT Harvey (Ruther Glen, Va./Riverbend) goal two minutes later. Once again, the Generals tallied a goal, but were answered by Tankersley and Mike Allen (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) giving RMC their largest lead of the day at 9-5. W&L scored with 1:09 left, and then again eight seconds later to cap the second quarter scoring, a frame that featured 12 goals.
- Both defenses locked in after halftime, but after the Generals tallied one to begin the third, Tankersley lit up the scoreboard with 9:36 left in the quarter to make the lead 10-8. The Generals pushed across two more goals over the remainder of the frame to knot the score at 10 entering the fourth.
- Both teams capitalized on extra man opportunities in the fourth, as W&L took the lead with 12:30 to go, followed by the equalizer by Matthew Sutty (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum) with 27 seconds left to send the game to overtime.
- In the extra frame, RMC was stopped on a shot with 1:51 to go that led to a fast break by W&L, allowing them to score the game-winner with 1:36 left to win 12-11.
Inside the Numbers
- Tankersley led the way with four goals. His second goal was the 100th of his career. He also picked up two ground balls.
- Harrington was the only other RMC player with multiple goals, scoring twice while also picking up a ground ball.
- Twomey stopped 15 shots and tallied an assist.
- Allen finished with one goal, two assists, five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford) picked up three ground balls.
- Cooper Hauser (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) led the team with three caused turnovers.
