ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon women's lacrosse took down fifth-seeded Lynchburg, 13-12, behind outscoring the Hornets in the final three quarters in front of a great crowd at Day field to advance to the conference semifinals.

How it Happened
- Lynchburg started the scoring with a quick goal on their first possession. Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester) responded with a goal of her own to tie the game. The Hornets were able to find the back of the net again in the ninth minute in a power play situation. Lynchburg extended their lead with two goals at the 7:46 and 6:07 mark. On a power-play opportunity, Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) netted a goal with the help of a Mittelstadter pass to make the game 4-2. Lynchburg scored on a free-position attempt to retake a three-point lead.
- The Hornets continued to build their lead in the second quarter with a goal at the 11:43 mark to push their advantage to 6-2. Evie McNeally's pass set up Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) for a goal to get the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard for the first time in the second quarter. Amanda Maxwell (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) followed that up with a power play free position goal as the Jackets continued to climb back. Lilly Fowler (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) scored with 5:51 on the clock, making it a one-score game. The Hornets re-extended their lead with a free-position goal in the last minute of the first half. With 0:03 left in the second quarter, Cami McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) slipped a pass through to Evie McNeally as she netted a goal to make it a one-score game at the half.
- Reese Toth (Edgewater, Md./South River) got the scoring started in the second half, knotting the game at 7-7. Fowler would set up the next two goals by Cami McNeally and Moul, giving the Yellow Jackets all the momentum and a 9-7 lead. Anna Snoddy (Palmyra, Va./Fluvanna County) beat the Hornets' defense to net her first goal of the night, capping off a 4-0 run for the Lemon and Black. Gillian Gladden (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) was tough in between the pipes, recording five saves in the third quarter. Lynchburg's response was outscoring the Yellow Jackets 3-0 in the final seven minutes of the third frame to tie up the game at 10-10 with fifteen minutes to play.
- In the fourth quarter, on a power-play opportunity, Moul weaved through the defense and completed the hat trick with a goal as the Jackets regained the lead. Moul stayed active on offense and took a pass from Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) to net her second goal of the fourth. The Hornets responded in the seventh minute to decrease the deficit to a single goal. Lowery supplied another great pass to Fowler as she scored her second goal of the game. Within the last 2:00, the Hornets scored to make it 13-12 but the Yellow Jackets would hold on and advance to the conference semifinals.

For the Record
- Fowler's two assists moves her junior season total to 50 overall. This moves her to fifth all-time in a single season in program history, pushing her past Alex Lightfoot that had 49 in the 2017 season.
- Piece used her seven draw controls tonight to push her freshman season total to 75. The mark moved her into ninth in single season draw controls, moving her past the 73 that Hannah Jones had in 2019 and Susie Snee had in 2016.
