Ray Hedrick earned career win No. 500 in the opener as the 30th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team registered 30 hits and 32 runs to sweep an ODAC doubleheader from Ferrum on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened:
- After the Panthers used a two-run homer in the top of the first to take the early lead, the Yellow Jackets responded in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Jack Bowles (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) was hit by a pitch and went to second on a single by freshman Mason Bodnar (Arlington, Va./St. John's Prep). Bowles went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a failed pickoff throw to first. Junior Carter Schmitt (Glen Allen, Va./St. Christopher's) walked and was out at second when senior Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) hit into a fielder's choice. With two away, sophomore Jon Quici (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) walked to load the bases and senior Aidan Pinto (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) was hit by a pitch to knock in Bodnar and level the score at 2-2. Following a pitching change, junior Jordan Hill (Norfolk, Va./Granby) lined the first pitch to center to drive in a pair and give the home team a 4-2 edge.
- RMC added to its lead in the third. Lautenschlager had a leadoff double to center, went to third on a single to left by senior Chaz Harvey (Charlottesville, Va./Miller School) and scored on an error to make it 5-2. Harvey went to third on the error and came home on a two-out double by Hill to up the advantage to 6-2. A single to center by freshman CJ Chatterton (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) knocked in Hill to make it 7-2.
- After Ferrum used a solo homer in the top of the fourth to pull within four, Pinto had a two-run triple and scored in a four-run fourth as the Yellow Jackets pushed the lead to 11-3.
- The Panthers plated three in the top of the fifth before Lautenschlager drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the frame and came home on a double by Quici to make it 12-6.
- Ferrum scored two in the top of seventh before Pinto had an RBI double and Hill added a sacrifice fly to make the score 15-8.
- The Panthers plated three in the top of the eighth before a two-run homer by Harvey capped a three-run eighth to make it 18-11.
- Senior Sam Slevin (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank Cox) pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the victory.
By The Numbers
- RMC outhit Ferrum 15-12.
- Pinto and Hill both had two hits and four RBI.
- Lautenschlager scored five times.

- Starter Bere Bauers (Phoenixville, Pa./Devon Prep) fanned nine in five innings in picking up the win and evening his record at 2-2.

How It Happened:
- Schmitt had a leadoff walk and Harvey smacked a homer to left in the bottom of the first to the Yellow Jackets the early lead. Junior Logan Duff (Forest, Va./Liberty Christian) added a three-run dinger later in the inning to make it 5-0.
- After the Panthers tallied a run in the second, Bodnar belted his first collegiate home run in the third to give RMC a 6-1 advantage.
- Ferrum put up three in the top of the fourth before Schmitt had an RBI double and scored in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 8-4.
- The Panthers scored two in the top of the fifth before Bowles and Lautenschlager had RBI doubles in a three-run bottom of the fifth to make it 11-6.
- A two-run single by Schmitt in the bottom of the sixth answered one run by Ferrum in the top of the inning as the Yellow Jackets led 14-7.
- The Panthers scored three in the top of the ninth before the game was called dur to darkness, making the final 14-10.
By The Numbers
- Schmitt went 3 for 4 with two runs and three RBI.
- Harvey had two hits and knocked in three.
- Duff also had three RBI.
- Bowles and Lautenschlager both had two hits, two runs and one RBI. Lautenschlager scored seven runs on the day.
