Eubank's Career-High 35 Assists Pace Men's Volleyball Past AU

ASHLAND, Va. -- Sophomore Thomas Eubank totaled a career-high 35 assists in a three-set sweep for Randolph-Macon Men's Volleyball over Averett on Saturday.

How it Happened

The Yellow Jackets took the first four points of the opening set before Averett cut the run with two of the next three points going their way. A 3-0 run helped RMC extend their lead to 11-4. The Jackets led by six later in the set before they took control of the frame with a 4 -0 run that extended to an 8-3 run to finish the set with a 25-14 win.
Averett grabbed three of the first five points of the second frame but RMC cashed in on nine of the next 11 points to take command of the set, taking an 11-5 lead. Two stretches of four straight points for RMC were split by two points for AU, helping the Jackets grow the lead further to 19-8. The Cougars went on a 6-2 run to cut the deficit, but four of the final five points went to RMC to close the second set, winning 25-15.
With their backs against the wall, Averett started the third set strong, taking a 6-3 lead. RMC grabbed the lead with a 4-0 run, but it flipped back to Averett as they took three of the next four to hold a 9-8 lead. The Yellow Jackets found some separation with a 5-0 run, but was met again with a 4-1 stretch for the Cougars to cut it to one point at 14-13. RMC would allow AU to score just five points the rest of the set, as RMC cruised to the finish line for a 25-18 win in set three and a sweep.

Inside the Numbers

Thomas Eubank (Henrico, Va./Mills Godwin) finished with a career-high 35 assists, surpassing his old mark of 29 earlier this season.
Davis Luck (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) had a team-best 10 kills and hit .400 in the match. He also had eight digs, a solo block, a block assist, and an ace.
Wesley Graves (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) matched Luck with 10 kills, also hitting .400.
Nathan Karluk (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) had a career-best seven kills and five block assists.
RMC hit .367 for the match, holding Averett to a -.061 hitting percentage.
