FOREST, Va. – Senior defender
Abigail Pesut (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) has been named ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Pesut continued her amazing season with elite performances in two ODAC wins this past week for Randolph-Macon. The senior posted the match winner in a 2-0 shutout on the road against Guilford and made major contributions defensively in the 2-1 win over Lynchburg, helping the Yellow Jackets start 5-0 in conference play for the first time since 2019.
So far this season, she has logged a total of 985 minutes while being a mainstay on the Yellow Jackets' backline. The defense held Guilford to only nine shots and maintained a firm defense against Lynchburg to grab their first win against the Hornets since 2019.
The Yellow Jackets are off to a 7-4-2 record this season and currently sit at a perfect 5-0 in ODAC play. They will face a tough challenge on Wednesday, October 15, as they host the reigning ODAC champions in No. 10 Washington & Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Nunnally Field.
