ASHLAND, Va. - In the final match of the regular season, women's soccer battled until the end but the match ended in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Bridgewater.

How it Happened
- In the opening 25 minutes of the half, both teams traded possessions and four shots overall, setting the tone for a defensive first half. In the 33rd minute, Bridgewater grabbed the first shot on goal of the match, forcing senior keeper Erin Morris (Manchester, N.H./Bishop Guertin) to make a save to keep the score level.
- In the 42nd minute, Morris was called for a foul while making a save, resulting in a penalty kick for Bridgewater. Eagles' forward Lyric Birkley took the kick and slotted it into the bottom right of the goal, grabbing a 1-0 lead for Bridgewater.
- As the teams kicked off the second half, Bridgewater set the pace with two shots in three minutes, which Morris made the save on. 10 minutes later, the Yellow Jackets had an opportunity for the equalizing goal on a shot from Emma Owens (Kernersville, N.C. East Forsyth) that narrowly missed its mark and forced the Bridgewater keeper Erinn Lockard to make the stop.
- In the 69th and 70th minutes, senior Ariel Farmer (Chesterfield, Va./Clover Hill) recorded back-to-back shots, searching for a goal to tie the match up. RMC recorded one more shot in the 84th minute from Alexa Stohr (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax). For the rest of the game, the Eagles held firm defensively as the Yellow Jackets ended the regular season in a 1-0 loss.

- Bridgewater recorded 20 shots overall, doubling Randolph-Macon's 10 shots overall. The Eagles placed nine shots on goal while the Yellow Jackets had three on goal.
