ASHLAND, Va. – The 19th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team will travel to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for the start of the 2024 NCAA Tournament in a regional hosted by Penn State Harrisburg.

RMC will be the No. 2 seed and will play third-seeded Elizabethtown to open the tournament on Friday, May 17. The top seed Penn State Harrisburg will host fourth-seeded Bridgewater State on the opening day of the double-elimination regional.

RMC has never played Elizabethtown or Bridgewater State and has a 1-1 series record against Penn State Harrisburg. The first matchup came in 2020 as RMC won 10-6 in Ashland. The two teams met last year as well, with PSH winning 4-3 at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Yellow Jackets are 28-13, posting the fourth-highest win total in program history. RMC went 16-6 in ODAC play and claimed the top spot in the conference standings.

This will be RMC's eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament and seventh under the tenure of head coach Ray Hedrick. This is the first time the Yellow Jackets have participated in the NCAA Tournament in consecutive seasons.

In 1977, head coach Hugh Stephens and the Yellow Jackets received an at-large bid to the Division II Tournament and travelled to Valdosta, Ga.

RMC earned automatic bids to the Division III Tournament in 2008 (Danville, Va.), 2011 (Lakewood, N.J.), 2013 (Millington, Tenn.) and 2016 (Washington, Pa.), reaching the regional finals in 2016.

In 2018, the Yellow Jackets received an at-large bid and won their first regional title in Holly Springs, N.C. RMC earned its first trip to the Division III College World Series. The Yellow Jackets also garnered an at-large bid in 2023.

RMC is one of two teams from the ODAC to participate in the NCAA Tournament. Lynchburg earned the league's automatic bid. Only three teams from Virginia made the tournament: RMC, Lynchburg, and Christopher Newport.

The Yellow Jackets hold a 7-3 record against teams in the NCAA Tournament. RMC is 2-1 against Lynchburg, 1-1 against Alvernia and Christopher Newport, and have wins against Salisbury, N.C. Wesleyan, and Hanover.
