BUENA VISTA, Va. – RMC men's volleyball concluded the regular season at Southern Virginia on Saturday, falling 3-0 to the top-ranked Knights.

How it Happened
- SVU began the match by jumping out to a 6-2 lead before RMC went on a 3-0 run to trim the lead to one. The Yellow Jackets seized the lead, holding an 11-10 advantage but the Knights took control with an 11-1 run that gave them a 21-12 lead. RMC would win four of the next six points, but the Knights closed out the set, taking the frame 25-17.
- The Knights commanded the entire second set, using a 6-0 run to jump out to a 15-5 lead. They would continue their stretch, taking eight of the next nine points as the lead to balloon the lead to 23-7. They would go on to take the set 25-9.
- Both teams traded points in the beginning of the third set as RMC captured a 12-10 lead. After SVU won three of the next four points, RMC pushed the lead back out to 16-13 with a 3-0 run. The Jackets maintained that lead out to 21-18 but the Knights went on a 3-0 run to tie it. RMC stopped the run with a point but SVU won four of the final five points to earn the sweep.
By The Numbers
- Phillip Van Essendelft (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) totaled five kills on a .300 hitting percentage.
- Ian Wagenhauser (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) led the team with seven kills.
- Kody Rogan (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had a team-high 14 assists along with three digs, three kills, and two aces.
- RMC got solo blocks by Van Essendelft and Nick Futrell (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford).
