VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – RMC men's lacrosse got hat tricks from four players as they cruised to a 23-4 win at Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
- For the second straight game, RMC jumped out to a big lead, this time an 8-0 advantage through the first 10 minutes of the first quarter. Two of the eight goals came from Austin Payne (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) and a man-up goal came from Ryan Pritchard (Crofton, Md./DeMatha). The Marlins scored two straight goals before RMC tallied another with 1:29 to go in the frame.
- Payne scored his hat trick goal to open the second quarter and was joined in the goal scoring by Cooper Hauser (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) and Logan Sinsebox (Monkton, Md./Hereford) who both completed hat tricks in the second stanza. Both of Sinsebox's goals in the quarter were man-up goals as RMC took a 15-3 lead into halftime.
- RMC was able to shut out the Marlins in the third quarter and got goals from four different players. Matt Williams (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) scored back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 20-3 heading into the final quarter.
- Connor Cadigan (Phoenix, Md./Boys Latin School) scored his sixth goal in the last two games to get the scoring started in the fourth. After VWU notched a goal, RMC scored two more goals in the remainder of the quarter. One was by Parker Lawler (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and another was Williams' hat trick goal, giving RMC the 23-4 win.
By The Numbers
- RMC outshot the Marlins 52-22. The Yellow Jackets also were 21-23 on clears, including 18-18 in the first three quarters.
- Austin Payne had six points with three goals and three assists. It's his most points in a game since Feb. 28 against Methodist when he had seven.
- Logan Sinsebox and Jack Smith (Stevensville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) each had five points. Sinsebox had three goals and two assists while Smith had a goal and four assists.
- Cooper Hauser notched a hat trick, the first of his career. He also had five ground balls.
- Matt Williams was a perfect 3-3, scoring a hat trick on just three shots.
- Will Robertson (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) went 8-11 on faceoffs and had four ground balls.
