How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets raced out to a 5-2 lead in the opening points of the first set and three straight attack errors by the Eagles allowed RMC to push the lead out to 9-4. That was followed by an 8-3 run by Juniata to knot the score at 12. The Jackets regained the lead, holding a 17-15 advantage, but the Eagles took the lead back at 18-17. The score was tied 21-21 until Juniata scored four straight points to take set one, 25-21.
- The Eagles continued that momentum by jumping out to an 8-2 lead in the second stanza and extended it out to a 15-4 lead. RMC could never find their footing as they trailed 20-9 and couldn't work their way back into the set as Juniata took set two, 25-13.
- Both teams traded points to begin the third set, as the score was tied 6-6 until Juniata went on a 3-0 run to break the lead open. They held on to a two-point lead at 13-11 but seized control with an 8-1 run that would ultimately seal the deal for the Eagles. They would go on to split the rest of the points and win the set 25-16, earning the sweep.
