How it Happened
- The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 5-3 lead to begin the first set, but the Blue Jays didn't stay down long, igniting an 8-3 run that flipped the lead in their favor. Both teams battled as the score was knotted at 16 but the lead was broken open with a 7-1 run that gave Etown a 23-17 lead, which was good enough to take set one, 25-19.
- A 1-0 lead was the last lead that the Blue Jays had in the second set as RMC took a lead and held off Etown despite holding a close advantage throughout. RMC led 14-13 but seized momentum to their side as they opened a 23-17 lead, closing the set and knotting the score at one.
- The third set was a dominating set for the Yellow Jackets as they opened the frame by taking a 12-5 lead out of the gate. The lead grew even further, out to 20-10, which was too much to handle for the Blue Jays to be able to come back as RMC took set three, 25-14.
- Finding new life, Etown flew out to a 7-2 lead in the fourth frame. The lead ballooned to 16-8 until a Randolph-Macon 10-2 run tied the score at 18 and changed the outlook of the set. The Blue Jays got the lead back and had set point at 24-21 but RMC won three straight points to continue the set. RMC had their first set point at 28-27 but couldn't close it out but finally did with two straight points to win 30-28.
