ASHLAND, Va. – The 9th - ranked Randolph-Macon softball team finished today with a 1-0-1 record, as
Rilee Baughan (Rappahannock, Va./Warsaw) homered once in both games against DePauw University by scores of 4-0 and 6-6.

How it Happened
Game 1:
- DePauw had their first batter of the game single up the middle, Gracie Ellis (New Kent, Va./New Kent) would work out of danger by striking out two of the next three Tiger batters. Rilee Baughan (Rappahannock, Va./Warsaw) got the party started with her third home run of the season to put Randolph-Macon up 1-0 after one inning.
- The Yellow Jackets saw Blayne Talley (Richmond, Va./Cosby) and Amanda Lanyon (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) hit back-to-back one out singles in the fourth inning. Later in the inning Baughan was hit by a pitch to load up the bases with two outs. Kayla Davis (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) brought in both Talley and Lanyon with a single up the middle, putting Randolph-Macon up 3-0.
- Talley recorded her second hit of the day to begin the bottom half of the fifth inning. Lanyon bunted her over to second and late in the inning scored on a wild pitch for the fourth run of the game.
- The Tigers made some noise in the box as Emily Timberman singled to start the sixth inning. Ella Kuenster doubled off the fence but a good relay by Randolph-Macon got Timberman tagged out at home to keep the shutout alive. Ellis still had work to do with Kuenster on third base and retired the next two batters to keep DePauw at bay.
- Ellis ended the Tigers final at-bat in the seventh inning, in 1-2-3 fashion to get win number ten for Randolph-Macon with a 4-0 win.
By the Numbers
- Ellis recorded her seventh straight complete game and win of the season. The junior fanned five Tigers and gave up only six hits in a scoreless effort in the circle.
- Davis finished the game with a two RBI double.
- Talley went 2-for-2 and scored twice in game one.
- Martin also ended the game with two hits.
- Baughan homered and ended the day 1-for-2.
How it Happened
Game 2:
- Randolph-Macon scored three runs in the first inning of game two. Lanyon doubled down the left field line to kick off the game. Baughan drew a one out walk to bring up Davis that singled home Lanyon to break the ice. Jacey Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) and Madison Drew Faries (Colonial Heights, Va./Colonial Heights) were sent in to pinch run and both scored on a Reagan Hill (Hanover, Va./Hanover) single into left field. The Yellow Jackets gave Baughan three runs early to work with in the circle.
- The Tigers scored their first run of the game in the top of the fifth inning, as they took the lead in the game at 5-3. Alyssa Anderson and Callie Rheinheimer hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning. Anderson scored on a groundout to start the scoring for DePauw. Riley Heim singled up the middle to cut the Yellow Jacket lead to one run. Goose Moore tied the game up on a triple down the left field line to bring home Heim. Katie Mathies broke the tie with a two-run homer to give the Tigers the lead in the fifth inning.
- Baughan answered the bell in the bottom half of the inning, after Naomi Sadler (Emporia, Va./Brunswick) drew a walk, the senior hit her second home-run of the game to tie up the ball game at 5-5.
- DePauw took the lead back on an error on a ground ball to take the lead 6-5 heading into the final inning.
- Davis and Martin both singled to kick off the bottom of the seventh for Randolph-Macon. Sierra Livingston (Dagsboro, Del./Sussex Tech) came in to pinch hit and clutched up with an RBI single to tie up the game at 6-6. The game was called for darkness with a 6-6 tie.
By the Numbers
- Baughan, Ellis and Dylan McNerney (Amherst, Va./Amherst County) combined for six runs allowed on eight hits and totalled two strikeouts.
- Davis ended the second game with three hits and an RBI.
- Baughan hit her second home run of the day and knocked in two runs.
- Hill ended the game with two RBIs.
- Livingston had the clutch RBI in the seventh inning.
- Lanyon and Martin both totalled two hits.
For the Record
- Lanyon passed Harley Jones'18 for fourth all-time in career hits with 144 in her career, with her single to begin game two.
