– Randolph-Macon men's volleyball hit .647 in the first set on their way to a route of Averett, 3-0, in Danville.

How it Happened:
- RMC came out with vengeance, taking a 7-0 lead right away. After Averett tallied their first point of the set, the Yellow Jackets went on a 4-0 run to extend the lead out to 11-1. Both teams split the next six points, but RMC continued their strong play with a 7-0 run to make the score 21-4, and eventually closed out the set to win 25-7.
- The Yellow Jackets raced out to a 5-0 lead to begin the second set. The Cougars won four of the next five points to trim the lead to 6-4. The lead opened up after a 7-0 run by RMC made the score 13-4. RMC was able to use small runs through the remainder of the set to win 25-13 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
- For the third straight set, RMC got out to a big lead early, this time an 8-1 advantage. The Yellow Jackets kept the Cougars from going on a run as a couple of 3-0 runs helped RMC hold a 21-11 lead late. RMC won four of the final six points to earn the sweep.
Inside the Numbers:
- RMC hit .647 in the first set and hit .351 over the three sets. The Yellow Jackets had just nine errors the entire match.
- Randolph-Macon had 35 kills to Averett's 12. They also led the aces count 10-1 and the blocks count 5-1.
- Phillip Van Essendelft (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) totaled a team-high eight kills, hitting .636. He also had two block assists and four digs.
- Matthew Carrol (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) finished with a career-high seven kills. He hit .400 and had three aces.
- Seth Lindt (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) led the team with seven digs.
