How it Happened vs. Kean:
- RMC stormed out of the gates, forcing a Kean timeout after a 10-4 run to begin the match. They came out of the timeout winning six of the next eight points to push the lead even further to 16-6. After the Cougars cut the deficit down to six at 20-14, the Yellow Jackets finished the opening frame winning five of the final eight points to go ahead 1-0.
- The third set was closer from the opening serve, with a slight advantage in Kean's favor as they led 10-7 early on. RMC ignited a 5-2 run to tie the score at 12 and gain momentum to take the lead 15-14 at the media timeout. A four-point serving run by Kody Rogan (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) helped RMC finish the set on a 7-2 run and move within one set of the sweep.
- Rogan kept it rolling with four service aces in the first five points of the third set to force a Kean timeout. RMC won the first point out of the timeout to make the lead 6-0 before the Cougars got on the board. Kean had to call another timeout after another run for RMC made the score 10-1 with a lot of momentum on the side of the Yellow Jackets. Kean came alive after the second timeout, cutting the lead to five at 17-12. The Cougars continued to fight all the way to 20-19 but RMC held off the comeback to never let Kean take the lead, winning the set and earning the sweep.
