How it Happened
  • In the first period, the Yellow Jackets strike quick with two goals within thirty seconds of eachother as Rianna Lowery (Bel Air, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and Evie McNeally (Severna Park, Md./Archbishop Spalding) score to put Randolph-Macon up 2-0 with ten minutes to play. Mary Washington scored its first goal by Bridget Crowley with nine minutes left, still left down 3-1. The Lemon and Black added two late goals by Lowery and Bartley to end hot shooting first period up 5-1.
  • The second period was more quiet on the offensive end for both teams, as the defenses and goalies stole the spotlight. Bartley scored her third goal of the game early in the period, as the Eagles' would respond with a Molly Daw unassisted goal soon after, as RMC still led 6-2. Mary Washington cut the deficit to three, but Lilly Fowler (Pheonix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) scored a man-up goal with one minute left to push the Yellow Jackets to halftime with a 7-3 lead. Taylor was huge for Randolph-Macon in goal, saving five shots by the Eagles in the second period.
  • Mary Washington made a push in the third period, scoring back-to-back goals to again pull within three with seven minutes remaining. That was the closest they would get, as they Yellow Jackets put the game away with three straight goals to end the period up 11-5, Bartley accounted for two of the goals during the run.
  • The final 15 minutes saw the Eagles outscore Randolph-Macon 4-1, but a Taylor Mittelstadter (Chesterfield, Va./Manchester) goal would cap off an amazing night, as the Yellow Jackets would take home a 12-9 win.
