– The defense combined for fifteen saves as Randolph-Macon Field Hockey fell to Washington and Lee in Ashland on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
- Randolph-Macon quickly went on the defense in the first quarter facing nine shots from the Generals within the first 15 minutes. Despite heavy offensive pressure from Washington and Lee, the Yellow Jackets were able to hold the Generals to just a one goal advantage by the end of the first frame.
- The second quarter of action was spent mostly in the midfield between the two teams, but the Generals were able to double their lead to two roughly 23 minutes into the contest. Randolph-Macon's offense tried to respond quickly, but a shot by Llana Thach (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) was blocked, resulting in the Generals maintaining the 2-0 lead heading into the half.
- The Generals struck twice again quickly in the third quarter, scoring two goals in just over three minutes, despite Valentina Ambrogi-Torres (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal School) making back-to-back saves. Randolph-Macon earned their first corner opportunity of the match but were unable to convert.
- RMC was able to push offensively in the final quarter, earning four penalty corners. Isabella McNulty (Midlothian, Va./Midlothian) and Ashlyn White (Frederick, Md./Urbana) each contributed a defensive save to help ensure Washington and Lee was held scoreless in the final frame.

- Valentina Ambrogi-Torres made thirteen impressive saves in the contest. Her save percentage is .841 on the year, which is second in the ODAC.
- RMC generated five corner opportunities compared to the Generals two.
- Ashlyn White's defensive save was her fifth of the season, which ranks second in the ODAC tied alongside Anna Scheir (Fallston, Md./Fallston).
- Isabella McNulty and Natalie Moul (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) each had a shot on goal for the Yellow Jackets.
